IBM Celebrates its 100th Anniversary

Jun 22, 2011

If there is one single company we should thank for technology wise, it isn’t Apple, Microsoft, Google, or Facebook. It is the old giant: IBM. They have been here what seems like forever, and they continue being a strong force in the technology world even though we don’t see commercials about them as much as we do of Apple or Microsoft. IBM isn’t in the consumer level computer business anymore. They moved on to bigger and better things such as top of the line business level servers and even ATMs. What we take for granted each day is really thanks to IBM. They provide technology such as barcode scanners at the checkout line, or the processing chips in our game consoles. In fact, all three major game consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii) all have IBM processors inside. They have also come up with things such as the famous Watson supercomputer, and continue to push the bleeding edge of supercomputers and computational technology in today’s fast paced online based world.
