iPhone 4. Verizon or AT&T ?

Feb 10, 2011

Today, February 10 is the official release of the new iPhone in Verizon… well not so new considering the hardware didn’t change and that is also one of the reasons against purchasing the iPhone at this time. For three consecutive years now, a new upgrade to the iPhone series was released around June which means that unless you really require one, it may not be a bad idea to wait for the next release of the iPhone. The iPhone in Verizon will cost $199 for 16GB and $299 for the 32GB version. As similar as the AT&T iPhone and the Verizon iPhone may look… there are actual differences, both physical and also ones in the contract. The Verizon iPhone has the some of the buttons present in a slightly different parts of the case and also is not capable of using SIM cards. That is one of the biggest problems considering that this prevents the change of the cellphone service. It is also very unpractical to use when traveling outside of the US as in many places, no network will be available unless the SIM card is switched. Another problem with the the Verizon iPhone is the 3g service provided, not only is the internet slower than in AT&T(mainly because the data plan is unlimited)  but also it prevents from utilizing the internet applications at the time of a call which means that every time a person if for example on Safari, the application will stop downloading any data the moment a call is made.

One thing that is possibly better better about the Verizon iPhone is that compared to the AT&T’s, it is capable of being used as a mobile Hotspot for up to 5 devices which is currently not possible with AT&T. All the rest depends depends on a customer’s perspective and what is the device mainly going to be used for, a traveling person who also requires the ability to search the internet while on the call may with the AT&T offer while a person who doesn’t mind these and instead cares about the plan and how it suits their budget may go decide differently. We hope that this article will be useful to the readers and make the decision between two carriers easier.
